After Hurricane Irene caused flooding and extensive damage to the lower level of the church, it was determined that to avoid future flooding the church foundation should be raised by 2 feet. A committee was formed to plan and execute the Church on the Rise.

On October 23, 2022, the church dedicated a plaque and presented slides telling the story of the Church on the Rise.
